Grant: American Radio Relay League (ARRL) Foundation Scholarships
Grant Date: March 15, 2021
Amount: $203,000
The American Radio Relay League Foundation (ARRLF), founded in 1973 by the ARRL with an IRS 501c3 non-profit designation, has awarded scholarships to thousands of Amateur Radio students since its founding. Historically, those scholarships, which on the average, range from $1,000 to $3000, have helped defray some of the costs of a college education.
For the 2021-2022 school year, ARDC provided funds for nineteen scholarships of greater value ($25,000 to $5,000) than has been previously awarded. In late 2020, the ARRLF advertised the existence of these ARDC scholarships. The result was a significant increase in the number of highly qualified applicants. The ARRLF was then faced with awarding the ARDC scholarships to only a small fraction of those who applied. In response, ARDC has provided an additional $203,000 to fund twice as many scholarships for 2021-2022 scholarship year.
