The Surrey School District serves over 81,000 students in British Columbia. Following the success of a 2024 summer school program where 18 students earned their Amateur Radio Certification, the district will expand its amateur radio activities.

The grant aims to establish amateur radio clubs at six high schools by providing each with a self-contained POTA (Parks on the Air) kit. These clubs will be student-run, with guidance from Surrey Amateur Radio Communications (SARC) mentors, and will promote outreach and further exploration of RF communications.
