Grant: ARDC Scholarship Program
Date: November 2024
Amount: $72,000
The American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES), founded in 1977 by Native American scientists, engineers, and educators, aims to address the underrepresentation of Indigenous peoples in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields. Recognizing the low enrollment and graduation rates of American Indian students in higher education, AISES works to remove barriers to academic success by providing financial, academic, and cultural support to Indigenous students from pre-kindergarten through graduate school.
With the ARDC grant, AISES will fund twelve Indigenous students for the 2025-2026 academic year, providing critical financial support to pursue STEM degrees related to amateur radio or digital communications at accredited institutions. This grant will help address the educational disparities faced by American Indian and Alaska Native students, many of whom are underprepared for college due to underfunded schools and limited resources.
