Grant: Paving the Way for Young People to the World of Amateur Radio

Date: January 2024
Amount: $26,748

JARL Kyoto Club was founded in 1947 and has been a long-established and leading amateur radio club in Kyoto Prefecture. The motto of the club is “Always Keep the Pioneering Spirits and Keep on Challenging as Radio Amateurs.” Its goal since its beginning is to support operators in enjoying DX (long-distance) QSOs and various contests.

With this grant, JARL Kyoto Club plans to increase the number of young licensed radio amateurs; the aim is to have 140 youngsters in three years be able to obtain operator licenses by covering testing fees and providing access to classes. These young radio operators will also have a mentor to help keep them engaged in the hobby.
