EPIC-FSC is a volunteer organization dedicated to improving emergency preparedness across the Santa Monica Mountains, including Calabasas, Topanga Canyon, Agoura Hills, Malibu, and Ventura County. The organization connects amateur radio operators through a digital communications network to ensure reliable and rapid message delivery during emergencies, supporting local EOCs and affected communities.

With ARDC grant funding, EPIC-FSC plans to expand its communications network by deploying additional VHF/UHF and HF Winlink gateway stations to enhance training and regional connectivity. The grant will also support the creation of portable stations for long-term loan to local amateur radio operators. Additionally, EPIC-FSC will experiment with a low-cost digital radio alerting system to notify amateur radio operators and emergency communications groups when they need to activate for drills or real emergencies.
