ARDC seeks a detail-oriented Grants Associate to join our team. Under the direction of the Grants Manager, the Grants Associate will serve a key role in supporting ARDC’s grant making from about. This role requires a dynamic individual with an administrative background. An ideal candidate must be familiar with amateur radio, and ideally has grantmaking foundation process and/or customer service experience. Familiarity with Jira or grantmaking software is a plus. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in philanthropic work related to ham radio and technology.

Duties

  • Responding to inbound inquiries: Monitors our main grantee email address and ensures timely response to all inquiries, working with appropriate team members when needed.
  • Screening new applications: Screens inbound applications for eligibility.
  • Processing awarded grants: Documents grant information and prepares grant agreements. Interfaces with grantees as needed.
  • Reviewing grant reports: Requests and reviews grantee final reports, sharing information with the Communications Manager. Coordinates review by subject matter experts (SMEs) when needed.
  • Writing grantee updates: working with grantees to write blog posts, newsletter snippets, and web descriptions to keep the public updated on project progress.
  • Supporting Volunteer Committees: Supports the Grants Advisory Committee (GAC) by requesting changes to grant applications and packaging review materials. Supports the Grants Evaluation Team (GET) with information requests and by formatting evaluation materials.
  • Supporting grantee engagement: engaging with discussions with grantees on our forums.
  • Tracking and sharing data: Works with the Grants Manager to track grant metrics. Assists in verifying and sharing information with the public.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Familiarity with and involvement in amateur radio, including the possession of an amateur radio license.
  • 3+ years’ experience in administration or customer service, ideally in a nonprofit or educational environment.
  • 1+ years’ experience in a role that includes writing, particularly reports, blog posts, and web copy
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • A collaborative and relationship-building mindset.
  • Organized with high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using a range of technology, including LibreOffice, and willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Ability to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in a collaborative workplace.

Preferred Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, particularly in an area related to technology, nonprofit management, or communications.
  • Familiarity with processes related to grantmaking.
  • Experience working in international communications, including working with translators where needed.
  • Experience working with technology-focused companies and/or open source technology projects.
  • Interest in making, building, and hacker culture.

Location

Remote, US.

At this time, we are only able to extend employment to US citizens operating within US states and territories.

English proficiency required.

Salary & Benefits

Salary range: $64,000 – $74,000
